The Edmonton Oilers had the good fortune of having Wayne Gretzky for 9 years in the team's glory days - 'The Great One' posted multiple seasons over 200 points (!!) and led the team to four Stanley Cups.
Now they have Connor McDavid.
GQ ranked the Oilers superstar in its list of top athletes of the future across the globe. He joins the likes of Odell Beckham Jr, Jordan Spieth, and Mallory Pugh.
McDavid, fresh off a 100-point season, and a Hart Memorial Trophy win, is looking to cement himself as the NHL's next 'great' - better than Sidney Crosby, and maybe even better than Gretzky himself.
No one will ever put up the points Gretzky did throughout his career - but that's large in part to the way the modern game is played. It is very possible that McDavid ends up having an even greater impact to his team throughout the course of his career.
He's not getting paid $100 million for nothing, after all.
