McQuaid lays out player with a brutal hit from behind.

This was an ugly hit but it's hard to lay the blame squarely at the feet of Boston Bruin Adam McQuaid.

On Thursday night McQuaid delivered what was in fact a brutal hit from behind to Ottawa Senator Victor Stalberg, a hit that would knock him out of the game. 

While McQuaid did deliver the hit from behind, it appeared he was already committed to delivering a check when Stalberg made a very sudden motion that drastically changed the position of his body. Given that fact, it's hard to label this an intentional cheap shot from McQuaid.

What do you think, was this a bad hit? Or does some of the onus go on the player with the puck?
