On Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reported that the Ottawa Senators have parted ways with assistant general manager Trent Mann.

As soon as it heard the name, the fanbase knew it was messy. That’s because five months ago, there was a late-night surprise firing in Ottawa that caused a lot of commotion. In February, the Senators announced coaching changes to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Belleville Senators, firing longtime head coach Troy Mann. No one expected that, but when the reasons why surfaced, it was clear the Sens had no other choice : Mann had reportedly given some of the “Senators pre-scouting material to another NHL team.”

Here is how messy it keeps being: the head coach is the brother of Trent Mann. Who is now released from the team. It is also believed that Trent Mann had been banned for the Canadian Tire Centre since about the time his brother, Troy, was fired.

The moves also comes just one day after Garrioch reported Senators president of business operations Anthony LeBlanc had resigned from the franchise.

These changes all come as the Senators complete an ownership change, with a group of investors led by Michael Andlauer taking over majority ownership from the Melnyk family.

Are more changes expected to come in the Senators’ front office?
