Michael Bunting calls ouf referee for embarrassing call

At some point in Game 2 of the series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs, it seemed like the officials were working against the latter.

Earlier in the game, the referees missed a blatant too many men penalty against the Bolts.

And then in the third period, as the Maple Leafs attempted a comeback to keep the series’ lead, forward Michael Bunting was sent to the penalty box for slashing. But was it? 

The rookie does not agree with the call. He was caught on TV and we can clearly read his lips.

“oh my God! that’s f—king embarrassing! oh my God.”

We can even see Cernak say to a teammate on the bench: “I didn’t even feel it” after selling refs on call with a dive....

In the end, the Maple Leafs lost Game 2 5-3 to the Bolts as they couldn’t keep out of the box… maybe that was the issue all along. But yeah, we kinda want to blame the referees too…

The series is now tied at 1 with Game 3 coming up on Friday in Tampa.
