Michael Bunting officially leaves the Maple Leafs.
The popular forward has tested the free agent market and will be headed to greener pastures.
A fan favorite is officially leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Any hopes that fans in Toronto had of holding onto Maple Leafs forward Michael Bunting were dashed on Saturday when former National Hockey League goaltender Kevin Weekes broke the news that the now former Maple Leafs forward will be headed to Carolina.
Weekes did not disclose the financial terms of the deal but it sounds like this is a relatively long-term deal for Bunting with the former goalie turned insider reporting that this will be a 3 year contract.
This means that, in the span of just a few hours, the Maple Leafs have lost the aforementioned Bunting, Ryan O'Reilly and Luke Schenn to free agency.
