The Colorado Avalanche have claimed forward Dryden Hunt off of waivers from the New York Rangers, while the Seattle Kraken have placed veteran Michael Kempny on waivers for the purposes of contract termination.

Check it out:

Hunt, a 26 year old forward who simply got pushed down the Rangers' depth chart, should have a difficult time factoring into things for the Avs, but given their long-term injury to captain Gabriel Landeskog this is a move that makes sense. Hunt has one goal in three games for the Rangers so far this season and put up six goals and 17 points in 76 games last season, his first full campaign in the NHL. In total he's put up 13 goals and 41 points in 168 games split between the Rangers, Arizona Coyotes and Florida Panthers. He's a classic NHL/AHL 'tweener though as he has absolutely lit it up at the AHL level in the past.

As for Kempny, this appears to be the end of the road for the veteran defenseman. By terminating his contract, the Kraken have enabled the 32 year old to seek employment overseas and there are already reports that he plans on heading back home to his native Czech Republic to play. He managed 15 games at the NHL level with the Washington Capitals last season, but spend the majority of the season either as a healthy scratch on with the AHL's Hershey Beras. His best campaign came in 2018-19 when he put up six goals and 25 points in 71 games with the Capitals.

Additionally, the Vancouver Canucks placed forward Phillip Di Guiseppe on waivers today. The 29 year old forward played last season with the Canucks AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks, potting 12 goals and 36 points in 42 games. In total he has 16 goals and 53 points in 201 NHL games split between the New York Rangers, Nashville Predators and Carolina Hurricanes. At 29 years old and with a history of not being able to hold onto an NHL roster spot though, I don't see any teams taking a flyer on him as a waiver pick up.
