On Sunday, there was devastating news straight out of Nashville.
Predators forward Mikael Granlund’s wife Emmi gave birth to stillborn daughter.
She shared on Instagram on Sunday the couple’s daughter was stillborn Tuesday.
“Our little angel baby girl was born Tuesday without a heartbeat,” Emmi’s Instagram post read. "We find hope knowing she’s up there watching for us as our guardian angel, and we believe that everything happens for a reason."
The girl would have been the second newcomer to the young family. This has to be a difficult time for the Granlund family.
Mikael won’t even have hockey to distract him from the heartbreaking news as the NHL will soon enter its third week without hockey since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
Granlund becomes the third NHL player in the last few years to lose a baby at birth. Last year, San Jose Sharks’ Evander Kane announced that his daughter was still bord, while back in 2018, it was Erik Karlsson and his wife Melinda that were dealt the heartbreaking blow.
We send our heartfelt condolences to the Granlund family in the loss of their daughter.
