Once again head coach Mike Babcock is making his voice heard when it comes to the issue of goalscoring, and many fans are in agreement with him.

As of right now the NHL is on pace to have the lowest scoring season in over 10 years, and last year wasn't exactly an offensive explosion either, Babcock believes the reason and the solution are both very simple.

"All you gotta do is a math equation. You go to 1980 when the puck went in the net [at a nearly four-goals-a-game pace]. You look at the average size of the goalies in the net and you look at the net," Babcock said as per Sportsnet.

Babcock's argument is simple, as goalies have gotten larger, and equipment has become lighter, the nets have stayed the same, playing a direct role in the downward trend of goal scoring. Babcock suggests that as the average size of goaltenders increases, the size of the nets should be increased as well.

"The net's too small for the size of the goalies, period," Babcock said.

While goalies might not be happy with the proposed changes, more goals usually means more eyeballs on the game.
