It has exposed so much…
Columbus has been a mess and the 2023-24 season isn’t even underway. The Blue Jackets did admit they made a mistake hiring Mike Babcock as head coach earlier this summer. As you know, Babs resigned Sunday after investigations by the team, NHL, and NHLPA into his conduct during his brief tenure as head coach.
A lot of ugly has come out of this, however, Adam Proteau of the Hockey News believes some good will emerge as he sees that now disrespectful coaching tactics in the game should be on their way out.
Which prompts him to believe that chances of seeing Joel Quenneville back in the NHL could be slim to none. Earlier this month, both the former head coach and former Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman attended the league’s general managers” meeting.
Other coaches will be closely watched to make sure the “old-school approach to player/management relations” is on its way out and maybe that’s what’s positive in the whole Babcock mess!
