There has been a Mike Babcock sighting in the National Hockey League on Saturday night and it has caused a little bit of a stir on social media.

A photo is being shared on social media that purports to show Mike Babcock in attendance at tonight's game between the St. Louis Blues and the Seattle Kraken, a game being contested at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

What appears to have caused much of the stir is the fact that Babcock is not only in attendance, but is also sporting a considerable amount of St. Louis Blues apparel. While this has led many to jump to conclusions about a possible connection between Babcock and the Blues those leaps appear to be very premature if not entirely unfounded.

The far more plausible explanation is that Babcock, who now has plenty of free time after being forced to resign from his position with the Columbus Blue Jackets, is simply in St. Louis to support his son who is a currently a member of the Blues coaching staff.

Michael Babcock III is currently serving as the skills coach for the St. Louis Blues, a position that he has occupied since being hired in June of this year. Michael Babcock III had previously held a position with the Ottawa Senators where he specialized in developing game plans, scouting and of course on-ice skills development.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
