Mike Milbury calls out Tuukka Rask for leaving the Bruins.

One of the more controversial figures in hockey has chimed in on the stunning situation surrounding the Boston Bruins and their star goaltender Tuukka Rask. For those of you who missed the news, on Saturday Rask announced that he would be leaving the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference bubble as he had opted out of the NHL's Return to Play and the Stanley Cup Playoffs

It is a decision that floored fans of the Boston Bruins and one that has resulted in a ton of backlash against Tuukka Rask, although admittedly there are also a large number of fans supporting him in his decision to be with his family. The latest to chime in with his two cents on the surprise move from the Bruins number one goaltender was veteran NHL analyst Mike Milbury, formerly a Boston Bruin himself, who had some pretty harsh criticism to share regarding Tuukka Rask during the NBC broadcast of today's Game 3 between the Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes. Milbury mentioned that there had been other players to leave the bubble or opt out of the bubble entirely but he also added that none had done so for the reasons that had motivated Tuukka Rask, and there was no mistaking the implication behind those words from Milbury.

Here were his full comments on Rask:

"This puts Tuukka Rask in a unique and unusual position," said Milbury. "Others have opted not to enter the bubble, most with health reasons, but others have left the bubble for childbirth or for health reasons or various reasons, but nobody has simply opted to just leave the bubble because they didn't want to be here and just wanted to be with their family. I would not have done it, the rest of the league's players have not done it. I think this will be, in a city that has not really embraced Tuukka Rask despite his success, a city that I grew up in and I played and coached there for 20 years and live there now, this is going to be a difficult decision to swallow for Boston Bruins fans."

That's quite the take from Milbury but there's no question that it is one shared by many fans in Boston based on the reaction to today's announcement.
