Mike Reilly provides update from hospital bed following heart procedure
The blue liner is very lucky after all. See what he had to say after undergoing heart procedure:
New York Islanders defenseman Mike Reilly was lucky in his bad luck. Doctors found a preexisting heart condition when the blue liner was undergoing routine tests after being concussed earlier this month. The condition was picked up through echocardiograms as part of Reilly’s post-concussion evaluation and he finally underwent heart procedure.
On Thursday night, Reilly shared a story on his Instagram account to tell fans how he was feeling after the procedure. From his hospital bed, Reilly posted the following message:
“Thank you to doctor Sommer for doing a great job on my procedure. Thank you to everyone that has reached out to me, appreciations! I’ll be back.”
There is no timeline for Reilly’s return at the moment. He was concussed during a game at Buffalo on Nov. 1, but has been cleared from the concussion. He now needs to focus on his recovery from the heart procedure and is out indefinitely.
Reilly has been with the Islanders for roughly a year since he was claimed off waivers after he was placed on the wire by the Florida Panthers. He is in his 10th NHL season also previously played for the Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins.
In 11 games this season, Reilly has posted a +2 rating in New York.
