Mike Smith pulled in first period of Game 1
The Oilers in trouble as soon as the game started!
HockeyFeed
It was a short night for goalie Mike Smith. The Edmonton Oilers pulled him out of the net after the Calgary Flames scored three goals on nine shots in the first minutes of Game 1 in the Battle of Alberta.
He was replaced by Mikko Koskinen, who is seeing his first playoff action this spring.
Elias Lindholm got on the board 26 seconds in and moments later - 25 seconds to be exact - Andrew Mangiapane beat Smith as well.
The crowd was loud, but Smith let his teammates know he was in control as the Oilers took a timeout to settle the frenzy.
It didn’t work.
Smith let in a third goal, this one by Brett Ritchie, which had pulled just a ninth shot on Smith.
The plug was pulled on Smith:
Once the goalie change was made by Edmonton, the Oilers got on the board. Thanks to who? Connor McDavid, of course. No way he was going to celebrate with Smith for that one.
