Mike Sullivan confirms two huge returns for the Penguins tonight.
Penguins finally get some of their big guns.
The Pittsburgh Penguins look like they are finally getting some of their big weapons back.
It is still not yet official, but by all accounts it looks as though Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will make his season debut tonight when the Penguins take on the New Jersey Devils. Crosby has of course been sidelined for the entirety of the regular season thus far following a surgical procedure in September of this year to repair damage to his wrist.
I say the news is not official but it is about as close as you can get with the information coming directly from Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan. Sullivan has indicated that both Crosby and forward Jeff Carter are expected to be in the lineup tonight for the Penguins. Barring any major setbacks at the last minute you can fully expect that both men will be suiting up this evening.
Carter on the other hand has not been injured but has been on the sidelines as a result of the National Hockey League's Covid protocols. Carter tested positive for the virus but has reportedly remained asymptomatic in spite of his positive test result. That is of course good news for the Penguins as some players have had a difficult time bouncing back after tough bouts of Covid in the past. Players usually require a pair of consecutive negative tests before being able to return to play, which means that Carter playing tonight would be a sign that he has made it through the process relatively unscathed.
