Mike Sullivan sends a warning to his players on Sunday.

The head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins knows his team must be better with the season on the line.

The Pittsburgh Penguins need to be playing every game like it could be the final game of the season, and their head coach knows it all too well.

The Penguins suffered a devastating loss at the hands of the New York Rangers on Saturday, severely damaging their chances of making the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, and with another huge game on the schedule today, Sullivan is doing everything he can to get his team prepared.

The Penguins were dominated on the rush by the Rangers on Saturday so it made a lot of sense when Sullivan sent a warning to his players about exactly this aspect of the game through the media.

"This is another team we're playing today that has a pretty dynamic transition game, and we just have to make sure that we don't feed it," said Sullivan before facing the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday.

Like the Penguins, the Red Wings are currently also in the playoff hunt down the stretch and as a result you can expect them to lay it all on the line when they clash with the Penguins later today. While neither team is an odds on favorite to actually make it at this stage of the season, especially in the case of the Penguins, a win here today will be absolutely necessary if they hope to make it.
