Despite being up by two goals until the end of the second period, the Minnesota Wild lost the Dallas Stars last night 6-3.

Minnesota was all over Dallas when head coach Lindy Ruff decided to pull goaltender Kari Lethonen in favour of Antti Niemi. The game changed completely. Dallas found a way to score 3 goals in a 4 minute 30 seconds span at the end of the second frame.

Jared Spurgeon, who signed a contract extension before the game, Charlie Coyle and Nino Niederreiter were the goal scorers for the Wild.

According to head coach Mike Yeo, his team past a great opportunity to prove that they belong to the NHL's elite.

"We want to prove that we're one of the top teams in the league. It was a good opportunity to do that tonight."

Charlie Coyle blames the early lead for his team lack of effort in that second period.

"I think our sense of urgency kind of dropped and we stopped going as hard for pucks, and winning those loose-puck battles and what we were doing before to make us successful."

The Wild tried to get the lead back, but they ran into a hot goaltender in Antti Niemi, who stopped 30 shots in relief.

Minnesota will have a great opportunity to add 2 points to their record when they receive the slumping Montreal canadiens tonight.
