He's going to be with the team for a long time.
The Minnesota Wild just gave their fans an early Christmas present.
According to multiple reports the Wild have come to terms with talented defenseman Jared Spurgeon on a four year contract worth worth a total of $20.75 million dollars. Spurgeon will earn $4.25 milllion next season and $5.5 million in the subsequent seasons. The final three years of his new deal also include a limited no trade clause.
While Spurgeon may not be the biggest name in the NHL he is extremely valuable to the Wild, eating up over 20 minutes of ice time a night and averaging a point every two games thus far this season while fulfilling his defensive duties on the blue line.
This news should make Wild fans very happy.
