Minnesota Wild issues statement on today's horrific events.

The state of Minnesota and the United States of America as a whole has been left in shock today after what appears to have been a politically motivated attack has claimed the lives of at least one American lawmaker.

On Saturday, Melissa Hortman, who served as the 61st speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, was shot in what appeared to be a targeted attack. Hortman has tragically lost her life as a result of the attack and her husband Mark was shot and killed as well by the assailant. In a shocking turn of events, the same attack also targeted Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette, both of whom were also shot. Senator Hoffman and his wife both survived the attack and I can only hope that they will be able to make a full recovery.

Following the heinous attacks on Saturday, the Minnesota Wild issued a public statement decrying the attack as an act of "senseless violence" and extended their well wishes to the families involved in this terrible tragedy.

Our hearts are heavy with today's tragic news. the Minnesota Wild extends our deepest thoughts and prayers to the Hortman and Hoffman families during this heartbreaking time. We send love, strength, and sympathy to all family members, friends and everyone affected by this senseless violence.

It is always tragic when someone loses their life but it is especially abhorrent when it is in an incident like this, one that the Wild accurately describe as an act of senseless violence.

I would also like to extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to both the Hoffman and Hortman families and to all those of you who have been impacted by today's horrific news.
