Minnesota Wild nearly traded pair of defensemen

Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin made a pair of additions to his team ahead of last week's National Hockey League Trade Deadline, acquiring defenseman John Klingberg from the Anaheim Ducks and forward Oskar Sundqvist from the Detroit Red Wings; he also made the call to trade Jordan Greenway to the Buffalo Sabres. 

And apparently, Guerin didn't initially envision being that active.

“I did not think we would get this busy,” he admitted when addressing the media after the deadline. “I think we got a lot accomplished today. I think we're better today than we were yesterday.”

However, he announced that he did take calls from other teams who were hoping to acquire one of his veteran defensemen in Matt Dumba and Alex Goligoski. 

“We wouldn’t have done it. Matt is playing too well right now,” Guerin said. “He’s helping us too much. I think the last month, he’s been fantastic.”
