Minnesota Wild unveil a new look for the 2023-24 season.
The Minnesota Wild have confirmed that they will be kickin it old school this season.
The Minnesota Wild have unveiled a new look, and so far fans appear to be loving it.
On Saturday, the Wild unveiled a new look they are calling "The 78's," a look that is designed to honor the legacy of the State of Minnesota in the National Hockey League by paying tribute to the Minnesota North Stars of days gone by. The Wild had already done so earlier with their Reverse Retro jerseys but it seems like they now intend to make that classic tribute a more permanent part of their brand.
Minnesota Wild Senior Brand Advisor John Mayer released the following statement to explain the decision:
“Our primary home and road jerseys are as popular as ever with our fans,” said Mayer. “They also let us know last season that they still loved this legacy look so we decided to keep it in our mix as a new alternate jersey, with some updated ‘State of Hockey’ details.”
The announcement was accompanied by a 1 minute video that showcases the success the Wild have already had with the traditional North Stars colors as well as showing off the new look the team will sport for the 2023-24 season when wearing what will be their third jersey.
I would love to see more NHL teams continue to incorporate these tributes to the past and there's no doubt in my mind that this will prove to be a successful decision for the Wild moving forward.
