On Tuesday, the Dallas Stars have signed forward Roope Hintz to a blockbuster eight-year contract extension that keeps him through the 2030-31 season.

Now their focus shifts to another blockbuster move, and Darren Dreger explained on last night’s Insider Trading on TSN that it involves a significant trade to get a boost up front and emerge as a top contender for the Stanley Cup.

“The Hintz extension is an indication of looking after their long-term future in Dallas. But the Stars’ Christmas wish list could also provide a luxury item for those up front. They like what they have. They like the way things are going in Dallas right now. It’s hard not to. But they’d also like to add a forward to play with Tyler Seguin and Mason Marchment. It sounds like a tall ask. They do like this up there, but that top-six luxury item is definitely something Dallas is in the market for.”

It may be hard to find what they’re looking, however, the Stars could be all in as they currently sit on top of the Western division with a 13-6-4 record and 30 points, just one over the second place Winnipeg Jets.

Things are going well in Dallas with Jason Robertson thriving and Hintz in the books. Watch out for more out of the Stars to see if they do pull that monster trade for a long playoff run.
