Montreal Canadiens get devastating news regarding G Jake Allen
Have the hockey gods no mercy?
Just about everything possible has gone wrong for the Montreal Canadiens this season, who if you can believe it, came within three wins of hoisting the Stanley Cup last year.
Their season has gone from bad to worse in nearly every conceivable way, and now another bitter pill has to be swallowed from the proud Original 6 organization. Starting goaltender Jake Allen, who has had the lion's share of the net in the absence of former MVP Carey Price, will be absent for the next eight weeks thanks to a lower body injury.
Per NHL.com:
"Following Thursday's game against the Golden Knights, the Canadiens announced that Jake Allen will miss eight weeks due to a lower body injury.
Allen was injured during the first period of the Jan. 12 game in Boston and left the team's current road trip to return to Montreal for further evaluation."
It looks as though for the foreseeable future, the Habs will be rolling with a tandem of Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau.
