According to a report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Montreal Canadiens have traded veteran defenseman Joel Edmundson to the Washington Capitals. Going back the other way to the Canadiens will be a third round pick and a 7th round pick, and the Habs are believed to be retaining some part of Edmundson's deal in this transaction.
Edmundson appeared in 61 games for the Canadiens last season, in those he had 2 goals and 11 assists for a total of 13 points in the regular season. He finished the campaign with 58 penalty minutes and a plus minus rating of -29.
