More allegations of homophobic conduct from owners of OHL's Niagara IceDogs
The owners Joey and Billy Burke have already been given an indefinite suspension and a $150,000 fine.

If you haven't been following the ongoing scandal involving the OHL's Niagara IceDogs, then buckle up. You're in for one Hell of a ride.
Yesterday the OHL announced that it was fining the team $150,000 and that it had issued an indefinite suspension to minority owner Joey Burke and head coach/minority owner Billy Burke following an investigation in which the OHL uncovered that the pair had made sexist and homophobic remarks against a female IceDogs employee in a group chat.
The contents of that group chat were leaked to social media and well... let's just say it's going to be tough for the Burke brothers to come back from this one.
Check it out:
Keep it classy, boys...
The Burkes then deflected blame in a public statement that honestly just reads like a lot of excuses to me.
Check it out:
Are you kidding me with this nonsense? You want a cookie for not using racial language? You want another cookie for having no allegations levied against you until... well until this? I can point to literally every other team in the league in the same boat. If you're operating under a "But this is the first time!" policy, it says a lot about you as an organization.
Oh... and actually, this isn't the first time.
Check this out from Vancouver Canucks executive Rachel Doerrie:
Surprise, surprise...
Why am I not surprised that there are more allegations against these clowns?
I should be clear though, these are only allegations from Doerrie and nothing has been proven. But, to me, and in the court of public opinion it looks as if the Burke brothers have shown their true character as evidenced by the leaked images above. The fact is that these two simply aren't professional enough to run the IceDogs and the OHL sees it that way, as well.
I hope that this team can find its footing either with or without their two minority owners. There have been reports that there is interest to purchase the team from outside investors, so it'll be interesting to see how this offseason plays out.
