More bad news for Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without star forward Mitch Marner even longer despite the injury being reported as “day to day.”

It's starting to look more and more like Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe may not have been entirely upfront about the seriousness of the injury to one of his star forwards.

When Maple Leafs star forward Mitch Marner went down with an injury against the Boston Bruins, a perhaps overly optimistic Keefe brushed off concerns by suggesting that Marner would be out merely "day to day." Of course it has now been 11 days since Marner suffered the injury against the Bruins on March 7th, and there are no signs of Marner being any closer to a return.

On Monday morning, the Maple Leafs hit the ice for a morning skate as they prepare to face off against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday but notably absent from the group was Marner himself.

That's bad news for the Maple Leafs who will have a pair of games in quick succession this week, with the Flyers on Tuesday and a quick turn around to face the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

Marner being absent today suggests he will likely miss two more games, which would be his 4th and 5th straight games since suffering the injury.
