More Leafs players land on the block to make room for Sandin
A trade will have to take place, but who goes?

The Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t reached an agreement with Rasmus Sandin on a new contract and training camps are just around the corner… The team needs to clear sufficient salary-cap space to make room for him which prompted many insiders to wonder what trade will take place in the coming weeks ahead of the season.
The young Sandin is coming off his entry-level contract and could refuse to show up to camp if an agreement isn’t in place. The most recent update on the contract situation came from Sportsnet’s Luxe Fox who reported a few weeks ago that negotiations were “going nowhere”, with little signs of things improving.
Cap Friendly points out the Leafs sit almost $1.5 million above the $82.5-million salary cap for the coming season and could, as the Athletic’s Jonas Siegel suggested, start the season with a 20-man roster until Sandin signs. However, once the blue liner signs, Toronto have to make a few cost-cutting moves to become cap compliant.
The name of Alex Kerfoot has emerged in trade chatter more than once, with his average annual value of $3.5 million, however, the Toronto Sun’s Terry Koshan believes if the Maple Leafs intended to move him they would’ve done it by now.
Another name therefore returned on the trade block with Justin Holl ($2.4-million cap hit) who could turn out to be the most likely option for a trade in Toronto.
Can you imagine how many more players will land on the block as the deadline gets closer?
