More than 15 players placed on waivers!
A lot of movement on the waiver wire on Friday:
The 2024-25 season is just around the corner and it’s easy to tell when fans take a look at the waiver wire on Friday.
On Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks placed defensemen Jett Woo and Guillaume Brisebois on waiver, and it was confirmed on Friday that they weren’t claimed and have been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).
On top of these two players moving on the wire, 16 others were placed on waivers by their respective team.
The five teams that make up this lengthy transactions list are the Columbus Blue Jackets, Seattle Kraken, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators, and with many teams still looking to sort out their own rosters ahead of the season.
PHI: Attard, Belpedio, Gardner
OTT: Hodgson, Reinhardt, Rees, Pilon, Matinpalo, Guenette, Davies
SEA: Henman, Brouillard
CBJ: Sawchenko
NYR: Leschyshyn, Harpur, Belzile
Out of the list, there isn’t any notable NHL experienced player, though some clubs around the league could look to them as they’re having much less depth in their organization than others.
Any team has until Saturday afternoon to make the call on any of the aforementioned players. If not, all of them will be assigned to the AHL and won’t get the chance to compete at the NHL level for now.
