Jack Eichel was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights early on Thursday morning; the Buffalo Sabres parted ways with Eichel and a third round pick in return for Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, a future first-round draft pick and a future second-rounder.
While the Golden Knights were one of the two frontrunners left in the sweepstakes, fans were doubtful until the last minute that Vegas could pull it off. After all, the cap space was limited for the Knights and they needed to make room for Eichel’s annual $10 million pay check.
While they did send two active players to Buffalo in the transaction, they still need to shed some salary and that’s why insider Darren Dreger predicted on the air of TSN 1050 that more trades are coming to Sin City.
“Knowing McCrimmon the way I know McCrimmon, he’s got it figured out. Now does that mean there’s going to have to be more wheeling and dealing? Yea, they’ll have to be more”.GM Kelly McCrimmon will keep dealing…"
In Vegas, forwards Max Pacioretty is on long-term injured reserve, and to make matters worse for Golden Knights, they are also without Mark Stone and William Karlsson for some time.
They will be some rearrangement on the injured reverse and roster to respect the cap hit no doubt, and according to Dreger, this means more trades coming in Vegas.
