With the Minnesota Wild right in the middle of a tight battle for the last and final playoff spot, calling today's game a must win is an understatement.
Today the Wild faceoff against the Colorado Avalanche, the team they are battling with for the final wild card spot. The Wild currently hold a 3 point lead on those Avalanche but the Avs have a game in hand. So if Minnesota could pick up the W today, it would go a very long way into locking up that final wild card spot.
It definitely won't be an easy game, Colorado knows just as much how important this game is. The Wild will have some luck on their side with Matt Duchene and Nathan Mackinnon still out with knee injuries. Those injuries could not have come at a worse time for Colorado and might just be what makes them lose the race against Minnesota. Zach Parise is coming off a hat trick against the Flames and will look to once again be a huge factor for the Wild.
Even with those injuries for Colorado, the Wild cannot take the Avs lightly. They have to get the job done. Today is a four point game and a victory might just be what helps propel them into a playoff spot. One thing for sure, we are all going to be on the edge of our seats while the game is on.
