Multiple jerseys thrown on the ice in Canucks home opener.

A rough start for the Canucks at home.

The Canucks did not have the start to the season they wanted to have in front of their home crowd, and if the reaction from the crowd at Rogers Arena on Saturday was any indication of what is to come, the Canucks may be in for a very long season.

The Canucks disappointed their fans by collapsing in the third period on home ice, losing by a score of 5-1 to the Buffalo Sabres and provoking quite an impassioned response from their fans, both those in attendance as well as on social media.

During the course of the game multiple jerseys were thrown on the ice, and it appears that the number of jerseys thrown was at least 3. There are some reports that a fourth jersey may have been thrown as well, but whether the number was 3 or 4 it certainly was not a good look for the Canucks organization over the weekend.

The first jersey to be thrown was caught on the live broadcast, with one of the National Hockey League's officials picking it up off the ice and bring it back to the penalty box.

Here's an angle from the crowd, where you can clearly hear a warning being issued to not throw objects onto the ice.

The second jersey toss appears to have been caught by multiple fans in attendance, many of whom published the photos of the jersey on the ice to their social media accounts. That jersey toss appears to have drawn the most backlash, due to the fact that it had "Sedin" stitched on the back.

Another angle of the second jersey:

One Canucks season ticket holder reported counting a total of 4 jerseys being thrown onto the ice during the course of the game, and included a video of a member of the ice crew picking up one of those jerseys off the ice.

You might be thinking that is a great deal of money to throw to waste, but a reporter from the Buffalo News has indicated that he believes the jerseys being tossed were "cheap knock-offs."

Fans on social media however went a step further, with one fan going so far as to quite literally barbeque his Canucks jersey.

Definitely not the home opener the Canucks were hoping for.
