With the National Hockey League season inching closer and closer, each squad is trimming their roster down to the required amount. And as such, several names have landed on the latest round of the waiver wire.
Among the names included are veterans Jordan Martinook and Anton Khudobin, the latter of which has been among the more reliable backup goalies in recent memory.
The full list:
Jordan Martinook (CAR), Anton Khudobin (DAL), Mattias Janmark (EDM), Dmitri Samorukov (EDM), Andreas Johnson (NJ), Martin Frk (STL), Klim Kostin (STL), Justin Dowling (VAN), Johnathan Kovacevic (WPG).
Khudobin is a veteran of 259 career NHL games, and stood in for starter Ben Bishop as the Dallas Stars were able to advance to the 2020 Stanley Cup Final while playing in the "bubble" in Edmonton. Meanwhile, Martinook has served as an alternate captain for the Carolina Hurricanes in each of the past three seasons since his arrival to the club in 2018.
“It’s vital that we maximize our flexibility prior to finalizing the opening day roster. Our expectation is that Jordan will be a part of our group as we try to bring a championship to Raleigh this season," said Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell.
All players will have the chance to join their squad's respective American Hockey League affiliate teams should they go unclaimed by tomorrow afternoon.
