Multiple players facing potential suspensions after vicious game last night.

These were both ugly plays.

There were pair of ugly incidents on Wednesday night during the match up between the Ottawa Senators and San Jose Sharks and it seems likely that one or more will lead to a suspension from the National Hockey League.

First was a play initially missed by both the cameras and the on-ice officials, a spear delivered by San Jose's Marc-Edouard Vlasic to Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson, a move that prompted swift retaliation from the Senators Kyle Turris.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has come down hard on intentional attacks with the stick in the past and, considering this one was delivered to a star player, it seems likely Vlassic might be getting an unpaid vacation.

To make matters worse that attack from Vlassic seems likely to have been a motivating factor in the second incident, a crosscheck delivered by Ottawa's Mike Hoffman to San Jose Sharks star Logan Couture.

This one has the two big taboo's from player safety in it, an attack with a stick and an attacking to the head, and we're almost certain that Hoffman will be hearing about this one.
