The Lightning fined $100,000!!!
It's safe to say that Gary Bettman and the NHL front office brass aren't a fan of old school hockey.
The league has announced an absolute SLEW of suspensions and fines as a result of this past weekend's preseason melee between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers.
Four Lightning players have been either suspended or fined, while Lightning head coach Jon Cooper himself was fined $25,000. The team itself has been fined $100,000 "for their actions culminating in the events" of Saturday's game.

NEW YORK (Oct. 6, 2025) -- The National Hockey League announced today disciplinary action against the Tampa Bay Lightning for their actions culminating in the events of NHL Preseason Game No. 99 against the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla. on Saturday, Oct. 4. The Club has been fined $100,000 and head coach Jon Cooper has been fined $25,000.The fine money goes to the Club Fine Fund to be used for charitable purposes. These follow suspensions and fines previously assessed to four Lightning players by the NHL Department of Player Safety for their actions during the game.
