The Vancouver Canucks shook things up Wednesday night by sitting veteran defenseman Tyler Myers against the Winnipeg Jets, citing trade considerations. Sources say Myers was presented with a trade option earlier this week and is taking his time to evaluate it with his agent, J.P. Barry. While nothing is official, there’s strong speculation he could be heading to the Detroit Red Wings.

Meanwhile, veteran forward Evander Kane has been on the trade block for months. With the March 6 deadline fast approaching, a deal hasn’t materialized yet. Vancouver is reportedly willing to retain part of Kane’s $5.125 million cap hit to entice contenders and is believed to be seeking at least a third-round pick in return. The Canucks could even considered placing Kane on unconditional waivers for contract termination.

Adding to the intrigue, Brock Boeser’s name has surfaced in trade discussions. Darren Dreger revealed on Insider Trading that Boeser would be willing to waive his no-movement clause “if there’s a fit.” Boeser, who signed a seven-year, $7.25 million per season deal last July, is a proven playoff performer, making him a potentially hot commodity for contending teams.

Chris Johnston further reported to Rick Dhaliwal that the past 24 hours have been extremely busy for Vancouver’s front office, with even Conor Garland possibly being considered in trade talks.

“The door is not completely shut there,” Johnston noted, suggesting the Canucks could make multiple moves before the deadline.

With Myers, Kane, Boeser, and Garland all on the radar, Vancouver’s roster could look dramatically different as the March 6 trade deadline approaches.
