Well-deserved honor!
The Boston Bruins, who are right now easily the best National Hockey League team and are considered the frontrunners to be raising the Stanley Cup later this year, have been reaping the benefits of the return to their lineup of a popular veteran.
Forward David Krejci is back with the Bruins this season after initially taking a hiatus from the NHL and spending a season playing overseas in his native country. However, the itch to return to North America proved too much to pass up, and he agreed to a one year contract to re-join the team he helped lead to the Cup in 2011. Currently, he's on pace to reach a total of 64 points as the Bruins continue to plow their way through their schedule.
And prior to today's game against the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden in downtown Boston, the Bruins honored the longtime forward with a special ceremony for having appeared in his 1,000th career NHL contest - all while wearing the legendary spoked B of the Bruins.
Among the gifts that he received from the team included the 1,000 games silver and engraved stick, a customized Rolex watch, as well as a customized necklace for his wife Naomi, who joined him today along with their children.
Additionally, a specialized video tribute was played on the Jumbotron that included messages from former teammates Tuukka Rask as well as Milan Lucic:
What a tremendous career it's been in the NHL for Krejci, and he and the Bruins are hoping that he can add at least one more Stanley Cup title to his impressive resume by the time that it is all said and done!
