The Toronto Maple Leafs were THE breakout team of the 2016-17 NHL season. Led by rookie Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander, the Leafs transformed themselves from a 30th place team to a legit playoff contender. One rookie, 23-year-old Connor Brown, however had himself an excellent debut campaign but still managed to avoid the spotlight.
Now that he’s signed for the next three years at a reasonable $2.1 million cap hit, let’s give Brown the credit he deserves. Check out his highlight reel from last season and get hyped for 2017-18:
One thing that’s clear from this highlight package, the kid has hands. The Toronto native is not merely a product of his teammates, he makes things happen on his own. He has smarts, finish and a goal scorer’s determination. Look for even bigger things from this kid in 2017-18.
