The Edmonton Oilers are once again introducing a new uniform, but it's the classic look that's being brought back.
They've officially brought back their royal-blue uniforms that were originally worn 1979-80 until 1995-96, and then again from 2009-10 through 2016-17. They'll once again be the primary team colors, ending the era of the navy blue and the majority-orange home sweater.
Oilers superstar captain Connor McDavid donned the sweater during the NHL Media Tour in Vegas earlier today.
"We are excited to re-introduce these iconic jerseys and are grateful for the input from both the leadership group in our locker room and our great fans," said Stew MacDonald, Oilers Entertainment Group president this past July when the news was first announced. "There is a great history to this jersey, including five Stanley Cup championships, and we look forward to the team creating many more historic moments in blue and orange starting this fall."
