The expansion National Hockey League franchise Seattle Kraken were once linked to All-Star Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price, though general manager Ron Francis elected not to go in that direction.

However, the newest NHL squad do have themselves a stud in their crease to kick off their inaugural campaign. Reigning Vezina Trophy finalist Philipp Grubauer is taking his talents to the Pacific Northwest, and he'll be looking to repeat the success that Marc-Andre Fleury enjoyed in the crease during the inaugural season of the Vegas Golden Knights.

And we now have an idea of what he'll look like wearing the Kraken colors. He'll be sporting a brand new set of TRUE goalie pads, along with a handsomely painted new mask design from designer to the stars David Gunnarsson of DaveArt:

And here's the full setup in action: '

Grubauer, who has his name engraved on the Stanley Cup as a member of the 2017-18 champion Washington Capitals, arrives in Seattle after having spent the last three seasons with the Colorado Avalanche. The 2020-21 campaign was the best of his career, as he posted a 30-9-1 record with a sparkling 1.95 goals against average, .922 save percentage, and seven shutouts.

However, he was unable to come to terms with the Avalanche on a new contract. He subsequently signed a six-year, $35.4 million contract with Seattle, while the Avalanche acquired former Arizona Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper as a replacement.
