When the Anaheim Ducks signed veteran goaltender Ryan Miller to a two-year contract this summer, it seemed like a foregone conclusion. The netminder had been eyeing a California destination for awhile, and Ducks starting goalie John Gibson seemed like he could use some veteran leadership to help him guide things in the Ducks crease.
Well, almost a month into the season and Miller finally got his shot to prove whether or not he was worth the free-agent gamble. The 37-year-old goalie was outstanding in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. He made 34 saves, including 9 highlight reel saves in OT and blanked the Canes in a shootout to claim his first Ducks win.
His reaction and his team’s celebration is priceless. Check it out:
Atta boy, Millsy! Hopefully this is just the first of many for Miller and the Ducks this season.
