Patrick Marleau has always been a man of class.

After spending the first 20 seasons of his NHL career with the San Jose Sharks, the 37-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs this offseason. Marleau took a full page ad in the Sunday Sport section in The Mercury News and East Bay Times to leave a heartfelt goodbye to the people of San Jose.

The newspaper ad comes following a note his wife Christina posted back in July.

The veteran showed last season that he still has some gas left in the tank, notching 27 goals and 19 assists in 82 games. He joins a youthful group in Toronto highlighted by sophomores Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and William Nylander.
