MUST SEE: Rangers F Chris Kreider narrowly avoids horrifying injury
This could have been very bad.
If the New York Rangers are to get past the Pittsburgh Penguins in their Round 1 Stanley Cup Playoffs series, they'll need all hands on deck - especially leading goal scorer Chris Kreider.
Kreider, who scored a career high 52 goals during the 2021-22 regular season, narrowly avoided what could have been a gruesome injury during the 1st period of tonight's game against Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena when he was struck in the throat by a deflected slap shot.
He immediately left the game, but would be back on the bench by the time the second period rolled around. And he'll have the evidence of the injury on his lower neck for the foreseeable future, as he's sporting a bright-red welt:
