We can always appreciate when a player wants to step up for his team, especially his new teammates when he gets on the ice and feels the need to make a difference. And we all know Nathan Beaulieu needs to get back in good graces.

At the trade deadline, the Winnipeg Jets acquired Beaulieu from the Buffalo Sabres in return for a sixth-round pick. The 26-year-old defenseman is expected to fill in on the blue line as the Jets are dealing with many injuries to their defenders. However, Beaulieu could be added to the sidelined lot after the beating he took last night in his fight against Los Angeles Kings' Kyle Clifford.

The Kings forward jumped off the bench and went right after Beaulieu for an early third-period tussle. He made a bee line for Beaulieu and demolished the poor Jets blue liner with a flurry of punches and had no mercy as he fell to the ice, losing his balance.

Who messes with Clifford anyway?!

Beaulieu sure learnt his lesson. The good thing for the Jets is that they managed to win the contest 3-2 and the Kings were consequently officially eliminated from the playoff race.

The Jets are in the mix for the postseason, however, it remains to be seen if Beaulieu will be part of the lineup. He might need to rest and get some repairs following his brutal fight.
