Disaster for the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3.
Everyone in Colorado is currently holding their collective breath, and I can't blame them.
Things have quickly turned terrible for the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final, with star forward Nathan MacKinnon forced out of the game with what looks like a significant injury.
MacKinnon was shaken up a little over midway through the game's second period when he put his body on the line to block a shot. That shot was a one timer slapshot from the blue line courtesy of Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore and unfortunately for MacKinnon it looked as though Theodore put everything into that shot.
As a result the puck would smash into MacKinnon's knee, leaving the Avalanche star forward writhing around in pain on the ice.
To make matters worse, MacKinnon would try to gut it out by staying in the game but eventually was forced to give up. After MacKinnon got back on the ice it looked as though he couldn't put any weight on his injured leg, and he eventually limped back to the Avalanche locker room with several minutes still left to go in the period.
A very bad sign for the Avalanche.
