The former Maple Leaf was always under the microscope.

Things did not go smoothly for the Calgary Flames last season, who found themselves outside of the postseason amidst a campaign of high profile players underachieving both offensively and between the pipes.

Amidst several clashes between the likes of 1st year Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau and hard-nosed old school bench boss Darryl Sutter, there was another influx of reported player outspokenness on the Flames. Another 1st year Flames forward in Nazem Kadri, who helped the Colorado Avalanche to the Stanley Cup in 2021-22, was reportedly "very vocal" about how he sees the Flames being run.

Major changes have already been underway in Calgary, as both Darryl Sutter and general manager Brad Treliving left their respective roles. Stepping into those vacated roles are Ryan Huska and former Flames fan favorite Craig Conroy, the latter of which has had to deal with several additional players saying they want out; he's already traded Tyler Toffoli to the New Jersey Devils.

And now Kadri, who had plenty to say about how things went last season, is saying that he can handle the pressure due to the fact that he played in arguably the biggest fishbowl in professional hockey - Toronto.

“I played in Toronto for 10 years so I can shrug things off pretty easily,” Kadri said during a recent appearance on Sportsnet's Flames Talk.

Kadri then continued with these words about new head coach Huska, who was an assistant for the last several years behind the Flames bench.

“When I look at a guy like Huska, first and foremost, he cares about winning. He’s a really competitive guy. In talking to him several times over the last few months, I have a really good idea of how he wants us to play and what he expects out of us. He’s a guy that communicates well, too, and I think that’s going to be great for our team,” Kadri said, per Colton Pankiw of Daily Hive.
