Calgary Flames star forward Nazem Kadri has now officially put Hockey Canada on notice.

Earlier this month many fans suspected that Kadri was not happy with Hockey Canada after they announced the list of players that would be included on Canada's Orientation Camp roster, a list of players that did not include Nazem Kadri. Kadri responded to the announcement on Instagram by replying directly to it, posting a bunch of question marks as his reply.

Although the reply did not contain any actual words, it was enough for fans to suspect that the intent behind Kadri's reply was to share with the world that he was unhappy with the snub. It certainly created plenty of discussion online with some feeling that Kadri was right to be frustrated at the snub, while others felt that Kadri deserved to remain on the outside looking in.

Of course it is important to remember that players in the National Hockey League have had relatively few chances to represent their country at the Olympic Games in recent years, giving this event that much more meaning for players in the later stages of their respective careers.

If there was any doubt about the intent behind Kadri's message however, he erased those doubts this past week when he spoke openly about being unhappy with the decisions from Hockey Canada.

"I feel like I deserve a chance," said Kadri as per The Athletic on Thursday. "I think over the last few seasons I’ve certainly proven that with my statistics and the winning pedigree. I think it speaks for itself."

Kadri, a player that has often had brushes with controversy throughout his career in the National Hockey League, was asked if he felt his reply to the original announcement would hurt his chances, and the Flames star made it clear that he didn't care one way or another.

"It could help, or hurt, I’m not quite sure," admitted Kadri. "It’s not as serious as most people thought it was. I just thought I’d create a little stir. Like I mentioned, I would absolutely love to be on that team. I think I should be in consideration."

Do you feel Nazem Kadri deserves a chance at making the team. Let me know what you think of this entire situation in the comments.
