NCAA star Mitchell Gibson leaves college early, signs an NHL deal
The Harvard product will get a shot in the big leagues.

This just in, according to a report from NHL insider Frank Seravalli the Washington Capitals have signed NCAA star Mitchell Gibson to a one year entry-level contract that begins in 2023-24. He will officially sign an amateur tryout (ATO) contract with the Capitals' AHL affiliate Hershey Bears later this week.
The 23 year old Gibson has had a stellar college career with Harvard and looks ready for the pro game. If he can establish himself as a solid option with the Bears over the next couple months, he could be an intriguing option for the Caps in goal next season. The Caps have Darcy Kuemper and Charlie Lindgren both signed next season and beyond but have little support behind the two veterans. Again, don't be surprised if Gibson establishes himself as a solid #3 or even #2 option for the Caps in 2023-24.
