Chicago Blackhawks brought on Czech defenseman Michal Kempný earlier this year in an attempt to add depth to the teams defensive group. Kempný played in the KHL last season with Avangard Omsk and was able to rack up 5 goals and 21 points during the 59 games he played in.
During the 4-0 win against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday the defenseman was able to find the back of the net with a bouncing puck and tally up 5 shots on net. The addition to the team is welcome especially since the suspension of Niklas Hjalmarsson for the season opener.
It will take some time for the Czech player to adjust to the language and smaller ice rink but he has been enjoying his experience with the Blackhawks thus far.
