New development in Tony DeAngelo rejected trade!
When the Flyers attempted to move the defenseman to Carolina, the trade was denied by the NHL.

Over the weekend, the Philadelphia Flyers failed to complete two trades : one because St. Louis Blues’ Torey Krug refused to move to Philly thanks to his no-trade clause and the second, which would’ve sent Tony DeAngelo back to Carolina along with half of his $5 million cap hit retained for a prospect, was rejected by the NHL. The league saw some red flags in DeAngelo moving back to Carolina since he was traded from the Hurricanes less than a year ago.
However, there are now new developments in the latter failed trade, which comes with some good news for the Flyers, who are hoping to move DeAngelo. According to Hurricanes insider Luke DeCock, the trade could finally get done shortly.
“Looks like the deal with the Flyers to reacquire Tony DeAngelo will wait until July 8, a year out from the original trade, taking care of any cap-circumvention questions.”
Reports emerged that league officials were expected to meet with the Flyers and Hurricanes at the Draft, to see if the trade is still in the cards.
For now, it seems like the trade will finally materialized on July 9th, to respect the year out from the original transaction, but we all know how a two-week delay can change things considerably during the offseason and with free agency opening tomorrow.
