Patrick Sharp is a winner. He won three Stanley Cup titles with the Chicago Blackhawks during a long career in the NHL. After retiring, he began serving as an analyst for NBC Sports Chicago.

But now, it sounds like he is taking on a new challenge as Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman revealed on Tuesday that Sharp is returning to his roots as a coaching advisor with the men’s hockey team with the University of Vermont. He played for them from 2000 to 2002 before his prestigious career in the NHL.

Friedman does not mention if Sharp will remain an on-air talent for NBC Sports, he who has been so good in this positon. He is excellent at communicating his thoughts to the viewers at home, but might now be forced to come on as a special guest instead.

Drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers, Sharp has been traded, won 3 Stanley Cups, been to All-Star games, won a gold medal in the Olympics, and served as an assistant captain. He did it all, so now, it makes sense to get going as a coach.

We wish him all the best and hope he will remain on TV as he is a great former player to watch on air.
