It's important to keep in mind that at the end of the day these predictions don't mean anything and they are purely for entertainment purposes.

For many years now people have been using sports simulators to predict who will win the championship for the upcoming season and thanks to Jared Clinton of The Hockey News we now have a prediction for the 2016-2017 National Hockey League season.

The best part of this particular simulation is it produced a result that not many would have predicted, crowning the Philadelphia Flyers' the Stanley Cup Champions in large part thanks to a career performance from goaltender Steve Mason, a big turn around from the reality of his performance last season where at times it looked like Michael Neuvirth was taking over the number one role.

So how realistic is this prediction? Well the Las Vegas sportsbook believes the Flyers' odds of winning the Cup are 33:1 making them one of the longer shots to win it all.

The simulation produced full results for both the regular season as well as the playoffs so if you're interested in a more detailed look check out the images below.
